After his photography studies in Antwerp, Filip began his career in 2005 as in-house photographer for Ogilvy Brussels. At the age of 33, he opened his own studio to work for divers brands such as delvaux, proximus, scabal and dandoy, while collaborating with several belgian magazines for his first series of portraits. Filip is interested in technically challenging images. He plays with colours, lighting and props in order to invent textures and compositions in which the object or the person can interact with structured and playful backgrounds. Framed and rarely alone, the subject of the picture or video emerges in its simple yet not simplistic essence, as its shadows and reflections give it a dynamic, three-dimensional feeling. He often resorts to long exposures and complex lighting techniques to give depth to the body. In so doing, he wants to convey a sense of unnatural movement. Filip is a soft-spoken photographer, with an eye for details through which he wants to tell an intimate story. As much the tale of a product, as the shadows of men.
